About UnitConvertator

A unit converter that answers while you're still typing, and gets out of the way afterwards.

Most conversion sites make you pick a category, pick two units, type a number, then press a button — and then serve the answer inside a page heavy enough to feel the wait. This one takes a different position: the answer is the product, so everything else should be as small and as quiet as possible.

What it does differently

  • It converts live. Type 1 in kilograms and grams already reads 1,000. Add a digit and it moves with you. There is no Convert button because there is nothing to wait for.
  • It answers the question you didn't ask. Below the converter, Also equal to shows the same amount in every other unit of that category at once — pounds, ounces, stones, tons — so you rarely need a second conversion.
  • It doesn't force you into a category first. Search kg, or kilog, or lbs, and go. Categories are there to narrow things down if you want them, not as a toll gate.
  • It reads like a number should. Thousands separators as you type, and scientific notation only when a figure genuinely runs out of room — not at some arbitrary threshold.
  • It remembers only what you tell it to. Conversions reach your History when you press Save, and nowhere else.
  • It's one small page. No frameworks, no web fonts, no tracking scripts. It loads in a blink on a bad connection, which is usually where you need it.

Accuracy

Conversion factors are the defined international values — a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg, an inch exactly 25.4 mm — and temperatures are computed through kelvin rather than with rounded shortcuts. Where a unit is a convention rather than a constant, the page says so: a month is labelled as 30 days, a year as 365.
